Original Script

This is the first draft of our script, close to the time for filming, we decided that we should not have any dialogue at all so focused on trying tell the story through the editing and camera-work and build tension that way.



1.ext.night.park [real time]

darren standing over josh's body on the floor.the grass of the park is redend by the blood of the josh face. light shining on his face.

2.int.day.house [flashback]

Josh is on his sofa in his room with loud music playing in the background playing xbox. his phone rings and he seems to be arranging a meeting in 'the park' with someone he is going to meet.

JOSH

hey darren. have you got it?
yeah yeah i got the money,you are going to be there?
alright cool. see you later.

after the phone conversation he gets up and goes to some draws and ruffles around at the bottom of the draw and pulls out a roll of £20 notes and realises its not enough and panics.

3.ext.night.park [real time]

darren going through josh pockets and finding a phone and his wallet while josh knocked out.

4.ext.day.road [flashback]

Josh leaving his house and walking to the bus stop, getting on the bus and arriving at the park. he walks to the meeting point always looking behind him suspiciosly.

5.ext.early evening.park [flashback]

darren picks up a gun and a bag of drugs from a table and puts it in the waistband of his trousers and the drugs in his pocket. he walks out the the door and shuts it after him.

6.ext.night.park [flashback]

they meet,

JOSH

hey man, how are you?

DARREN

leave it out, wheres my money?

JOSH

here it is, all here

DARREN

one sec, let me check

Darren checks the money then looks up at josh and realizes that it is not enough.

DARREN

what the fuck is this? you think you can do this to me? huh?

JOSH

its all there, i counted it... it must have fallen out my pocket.

DARREN

dont waste my time

Darren then walks away but josh tries to grab his pocket to steal the drugs.

DARREN

what do you think your'e doing?

josh doesn't have enough money and begs the dealer.

JOSH

please i'm desperate.

Darren then picks josh up and rams him against the tree. punches him in his stomach and hits him round the face, which makes josh unconscious.

7.ext.night.park

Characters

Our characters, Josh and Darren are teenagers of different backgrounds.
Josh who is wealthy and private schooled, and the other, Darren who lives on an estate with his parents who receive benefits.

During our first two attempts at filming we found we were quite disorganised so encountered some problems like actors not showing up, footage not being up to standard and also some members of the cast being on a tight schedule.

On the third and final attempt Petros and i, both members of our group, had to appear in the film. Although we got the filming finished to a higher standard, the change in cast resulted in us having to adapt the traits of the original characters that we had in mind, so therefore the costumes weren't correct and the actors had completely changed.

Tormented

We thought the tormented opening would be a good comparison to look at because we have the same genre as tormented. this means that we could analyse it and look at the way it presents the characters using mise en scene and sound etc.

It influenced the way we thought about our overall idea and how we presented it to the audience, for example we used quick editing to enhance the pace of the film and to create a sense of panic.

Wild Style

The opening sequence for Wild Style is very vibrant and colourful and gives the audience and immediate idea of what the film is about. It uses graffiti and cartoon city scapes to show the urban feel of the film. The non-diagetic music is hip hop which links to the film which is based on graffiti, hip hop and urban life.

The Incredible Hulk

This is the opening sequence for the incredible hulk, the colour theme carried through it is either dark or a deep blood red. The shots are nearly all close ups or extreme close ups to show the fear on their faces. the font used is basic and in flourescent green to fit the colour of the character. there is also the use of blood and a person screaming which shows the audience it is an action film. They are mainly framed quite centrally which makes the viewer focus on the specific objects.

Dirty Harry

The opening sequence and credits to Dirty Harry hve a mixture of POV and close ups mostly to show facial expressions. the rich sea blues emphasize the setting as being in somewhere maybe tropical or hot. the credits are quite simple which keeps the viewers eye on the action.
